Ka Pae Ranasingam is a political drama film directed by P. Virumaandi in his directorial debut. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Aishwarya Rajesh in lead roles. The film was to be released in theaters but was released on Zee5 due to the pandemic. The film was released in Tamil on 9 October 2020 also in other Indian languages. A theatrical release is planned for 16 October 2020 following the reopening of theatres across India.
The story of the movie is based on a true incident about the laborers who work on contracts in gulf countries such as Dubai, Muscat, Oman, etc. In the story Ranasingam (Vijay Sethupathi) a villager who is very popular around the people for his skill to find water in the drylands. One day he was called by the head of the village to check for water in his land where he meets Ariyanachi (Aishwarya Rajesh). Soon both of them meet each other at different places like temples, festivals, family functions, etc. After being accepted by their parents Ranasingam and Ariyanachi get married during the night as the 144 acts was initiated in the village. After their marriage, Ranasingam leaves to Dubai for his work leaving his wife in the village. After going to Dubai, he unfortunately dies due to an accident that took place in the oil plant where he worked. But the news which Ariyanachi and the villagers received were wrong. Ariyanachi was not given help by the state government officers to get back her husband’s body back. Ariyanachi fights to bring her husband’s body back to the village for which she made the most dangerous moves such as falling in front of the car of the government officials and standing in the edge of a dam which was to be opened by the honorable Prime Minister. Finally, after the influence of the Prime Minister Ariyanachi gets her husband’s body back to their village. But she realizes that it was not her husband’s body but was somebody else’s during the funeral.
From the story, we can understand the pain and the sufferings of the laborers in the Gulf countries. We public are happily enjoying ourselves but the workers are struggling hard to earn their wages. From now let us respect the people who are working abroad.
