
Yesterday was a clash between KKR and MI. Both the teams were already on the top 4 of the points table. So they needed to win this match to secure their spots and to qualify for the playoffs. Before this match a news came out stating that Karthik had stepped down and gave away his captaincy to England's first ever World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan. On the match day, KKR won the toss and chose to bat first.
In came Gill and Tripathi as KKR's opening pair. It was a worst start for them as they started losing wickets in quick succession. Tripathi(7), Rana(5) and Karthik(4) went to the pavilion after scoring runs in single digits. Even their in-form opener Shubman Gill(21) failed to score big. When KKR lost Russell's (12) wicket, they were 61/5 and looked like a sunk ship. But the Cummins - Morgan pair stood still and made their ship sail aboard. At the end of 20 overs they made 148/5, Cummins (53*) and Morgan (39*) were still on the crease. From the bowling side R.Chahar took 2 wickets and their Pacers took a wicket each.
The second innings started with de Kock and Rohit Sharma coming in as MI's openers. It was a fierce start from MI as they scored 94 runs for their first wicket of Rohit(35). But Suryakumar Yadav was sent back for just 10 runs. Quinton de Kock yet again showed his masterclass and scored a half century which was a third one in his recent 4 innings. MI comfortably won the match with 19 balls to spare. Quinton de Kock(78) and Hardik (21) took their team home. From the bowling side Varun and Mavi, each took a wicket. Quinton de Kock was adjudged the Man of the match.
